Trattoria Sabatino
The Buccioni family’s neighbourhood trattoria under Porta San Frediano since 1956, with a daily menu still typed on an Olivetti and some of the gentlest prices in Florence.
Sabatino sits just outside Porta San Frediano, where the Buccioni family has cooked since 1956 in a bright room of green tablecloths and terracotta floors. The list of the day is typed each morning on an old Olivetti and changes daily with the season. Expect tortelli di patate al sugo, vitello steccato arrosto, seppie in zimino and the bistecca, which rarely leaves the list. Leave room for zuppa inglese or a baked pear. It keeps worker hours, open for lunch and dinner Monday to Friday and closed at the weekend.
Best for: Cheap weekday home cooking
