Le Volpi e l'Uva
Founded in 1992 by a winemaker and two sommeliers, this small enoteca off Ponte Vecchio pours bottles from small Italian producers with cheese and salumi at the counter or piazza tables.
Enologist Emilio Monechi and sommeliers Riccardo Comparini and Ciro Beligni opened Le Volpi e l'Uva in 1992 with a simple idea: buy directly from small, independent producers and make good wine easy to drink. More than thirty years on, the bottles still lean toward native grapes and organic or biodynamic farming, and the team visits the wineries it stocks. The room is tiny, with a marble counter and shelves of bottles, and a few tables sit outside on Piazza dei Rossi just across the river from the Ponte Vecchio. Plates of Italian cheeses and cured meats keep the focus on the glass.
