Enoteca Pitti Gola e Cantina
Facing Palazzo Pitti, this enoteca run by three former employees pours small-production Italian wines by the glass and pairs them with chef Matteo Caironi's Tuscan plates and tasting menus.
Edoardo Fioravanti, Manuele Giovanelli and Zeno Fioravanti worked here before buying the enoteca on New Year's Eve 2008, and they have filled its green shelves with small, often family-run producers. Many bottles are poured by the glass, flights group Italian sparkling, whites or reds from the house wine club, and the private cellar is especially deep in Chianti Classico. Chef Matteo Caironi's short menu runs from chicken liver terrine with Vin Santo reduction to fresh tagliolini with seasonal truffle, and four-wine tasting menus pair a course or two with dessert or cheese. Book ahead for a terrace table opposite the palace.
