Tenuta Torciano
The Giachi family's winery at Ulignano below San Gimignano, where lunch is a booked, wine-paired affair on a wisteria veranda, from antipasti and truffle ravioli to bistecca alla fiorentina.
Tenuta Torciano is a family winery in the countryside below San Gimignano, and its dining runs as booked experiences rather than a walk-in restaurant. The standard winery lunch lasts about ninety minutes: antipasti of ham, salami, pecorino and bruschetta, first courses such as ricotta and truffle ravioli or mezzemaniche with Cinta Senese pork sauce, then cantuccini with a dessert wine, each course matched with the estate's wines and oils. Variants add a Fiorentina steak, a seat on the garden veranda, a vineyard canopy or a cellar tour, and dinners follow the same format. Book ahead; gluten free, vegan and vegetarian menus come on request.
