Antesi at Villa San Michele

Belmond Villa San Michele's eight-table fine dining room, set in the old convent's loggia high above Florence, where Alessandro Cozzolino cooks three seasonal tasting menus to a panoramic city view.

Antesi occupies the 16th-century loggia of Villa San Michele, the former monastery on the Fiesole hillside that Belmond runs as a hotel. There are only eight tables, each turned toward Florence and the Arno valley. Executive Chef Alessandro Cozzolino writes three tasting menus, Attesa, Ora and Traccia, built on seasonal Tuscan produce: spaghetto with clams and black lemon, pigeon with Bolgheri vermouth apricots, a cacciucco-inspired bischero with Grosseto cuttlefish, carabaccia with wild mushrooms and truffle. You can also build a shorter meal from the tasting courses, with wine or Champagne pairings.
