Fuor d'Acqua
Just past Porta San Frediano since 2000, Fuor d'Acqua serves Florence's high-end seafood in a restored carriage house, built on raw crudite and fish from the afternoon catch off Viareggio.
Fuor d'Acqua opened in 2000 inside an old carriage depot on Via Pisana, just outside Porta San Frediano, and the restoration kept its brick vaults and arches. The kitchen works with fish from the afternoon catch landed at nearby Viareggio, and the signature is the crudite platter of red prawns, tuna and tartare. From there it moves to paccheri alla trabaccolara, tagliolini with lobster and a Catalan-style platter of mixed shellfish, with a fixed tasting menu for the undecided. The cellar lists about 250 labels. Dinner only, Monday to Saturday, with an outdoor courtyard for warm nights.
