Trattoria 4 Leoni
A centuries-old wine cellar turned Oltrarno trattoria on Piazza della Passera, known for Florentine steak, pear fiocchetti in taleggio sauce and tables spilling onto one of the city's liveliest little squares.
Trattoria 4 Leoni takes its name from the Canto ai 4 Leoni, where pietra serena lions once marked the street corners between Ponte Vecchio and Palazzo Pitti. It began as a wine cellar, became a hostaria, and passed to Stefano Di Puccio in 1995 after two generations of the Brogelli family. The kitchen cooks by season: panzanella and pappa al pomodoro in summer, ribollita in winter, with bistecca alla fiorentina, ossobuco and baccalà year round. The house signature is the fiocchetti di pera in taleggio and asparagus, and in good weather the tables move outside onto Piazza della Passera.
