Regina Bistecca
A steakhouse steps from the Duomo, set in the former Gonnelli antiquarian bookshop, grilling 21-day aged bistecca alla fiorentina over live coals under Renaissance vaults.
Regina Bistecca moved into Via Ricasoli 14r in 2018, taking over rooms that had been an art gallery and antiquarian bookshop for more than 140 years, and kept the skylight, cross vaults, pietra serena frames, coffered ceilings and an old well. The grill is the point: bistecca alla fiorentina aged at least 21 days, cooked over glowing coals and served rare, in Chianina IGP, Angus or a house selection priced by weight. Around it sits Florentine cooking, from lampredotto sandwiches and crostini to tagliolini with truffle. There are more than 150 wine labels and a Fiorentin-American bar pouring Negronis, and it is open every day for lunch and dinner.
