Angler
Saison Hospitality's Michelin-starred seafood restaurant on the Embarcadero cooks nearly everything over a wood-burning hearth, with Bay views, a taxidermy-lined Game Room and a Burgundy-heavy cellar.
Angler opened on the Embarcadero in 2018 as the second restaurant from the team behind Saison, and every dish is touched by live fire in some way. Chef de cuisine Joe Hou runs a sharing menu built around the hearth: ice-cold Pacific oysters, hot fried frog legs with cardamom creme fraiche, a whole sea bream with coconut and a showpiece embered lobster thermidor, with Parkerhouse rolls and cultured seaweed butter on the side. The dining room faces the bay, the bar and lounge suit a drink and a snack, and the Game Room hosts private events. Lunch runs Tuesday through Saturday.
Best for: Live-fire seafood with Bay Bridge views
