Copra
Chef Srijith Gopinathan's Fillmore Street restaurant cooks the coastal food of Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka through a California lens, in a plant-filled former bank with a serious bar.
Copra is the most personal project from Srijith Gopinathan, the chef who led Campton Place to two Michelin stars, and restaurateur Ayesha Thapar. The menu tracks the coastal cooking of Kerala, where he was born, Tamil Nadu, where he grew up, and neighboring Sri Lanka, reworked with California produce. Start with the black truffle soft egg appam and gunpowder goli vadai, then move to the shrimp vennai roast, which the menu flags as Chef Sri's favorite. The big, green dining room fills a former bank at Fillmore and Post, and weekend brunch runs on Saturday and Sunday.
