JouJou
The Lazy Bear team's glamorous French brasserie in the Design District, with a glass-roofed bar, a raw bar counter, shellfish plateaux and seafood-leaning French cooking seen through a California lens.
JouJou is the Lazy Bear team's French follow-up, a restaurant built for a full night out rather than a quiet dinner. The name means toy in French, and the rooms play along: the glass-enclosed Menagerie bar, a raw bar with counter seats facing the chefs, the sunken Rose Room and semicircular booths. Chef de cuisine Nick Vollono's menu leans toward seafood, from tiered shellfish plateaux and a crustacean omelet with Dungeness crab and lobster to petrale sole meunière. Onion soup and steak béarnaise cover the classics, and early evening brings happy hour oysters and frites.
Best for: A big night out with friends
