A historic Florentine trattoria in the hilltop hamlet of Arcetri, across from Galileo's last home, entered through the old pizzicheria and still serving its 1940s penne strascicate.

Trattoria Omero sits on Via del Pian dei Giullari, facing Villa Il Gioiello where Galileo spent his final years, with the Arcetri observatory a short walk away. It began as a bakery in the late 1800s; in 1943 Omero Attucci turned it into a pizzicheria and started serving a few dishes, and the entrance still passes through that shop. Several of those original recipes survive, notably the penne strascicate, fried chicken and fried calf's brain. Bistecca and tagliata come off the grill, and the dining room and terrace look out over the hills. Open daily for lunch and dinner.
