Santarosa Bistrot
A garden bistro and cafe against the old city walls by Porta San Frediano, running from morning cappuccino through daily brunch to a seasonal dinner and late cocktails on the Arno.
Santarosa opened in 2016 as part of a project with the city to revive the public gardens beside Florence's old walls, a short walk from Porta San Frediano and the Arno. Tables spread across the lawn and into a glasshouse-style pavilion, and the bar pours coffee from 8 AM until cocktails after midnight. Brunch runs every day with eggs Benedict, avocado toast and a full breakfast of eggs, sausage, bacon and beans. At dinner the chef leans on Neapolitan roots, with burrata-filled tortelli, grilled octopus with scarola and a Nerano bonbon, and the menu is rewritten every three months to follow the season.
