Rosemary's
Carlos Suarez's West Village flagship on Greenwich Avenue, serving seasonal Italian cooking and handmade pasta, with produce from its own rooftop garden overlooking Jefferson Market Garden.
Rosemary's opened on a corner of Greenwich Avenue in 2012 and quickly became a West Village fixture, a bright, busy room of long wooden tables and hanging lanterns. Founder Carlos Suarez modeled it on his parents' home in Lucca, and the rooftop garden upstairs still supplies produce for the kitchen. Pasta is made in-house: pappardelle with bolognese and rigatoni arrabbiata with burrata are the reliable orders, with rosemary focaccia and crispy artichokes to start. The day runs from weekday lunch and weekend brunch through dinner, with a weekday happy hour at the bar.
Best for: Pasta dinners and weekend brunch with friends
