Kingfisher opened on Broadway in January 2022 from the Phan and Le family behind the Crab Hut restaurants, and it has grown into one of San Diego's most talked-about rooms. Executive Chef David Sim, a first-generation Cambodian-American who has run the kitchen since 2023, cooks Vietnamese flavors through French technique: scallop meunière, duck liver pâté and smoked dry-aged duck with duck XO. A four-course chef's tasting menu offers the full tour, with an optional wine pairing. The bar builds its drinks on Vietnamese ingredients, down to a clarified phở gin cocktail.
