ABACÁ
Chef Francis Ang's airy Filipino Californian dining room at Fisherman's Wharf turns family recipes, barbecue sticks and ube pastries into one of the city's most personal restaurants.
Francis and Dian Ang built ABACÁ out of Pinoy Heritage, the pop up Eater SF named its best of 2018, and the restaurant still cooks like a family project. Dinner moves from pica pica snacks to barbecue sticks brushed with banana barbecue sauce, then on to lobster noodles in crab fat gravy and a sisig fried rice with pork chicharron and a poached egg. The room inside the Kimpton Alton is bright and breezy, with a patio for fair weather days. Weekday breakfast brings ensaymada and bibingka to the table, and on weekends the Panaderia counter opens alongside brunch.
Best for: Filipino dinner or a weekend brunch with friends
