A 50-seat Mission Hills wine bistro where New Mexican folk art and Hatch chile meet Spanish tapas and a deep Old and New World list.

Wolf in the Woods opened in November 2021 in a 1920s Mission Hills building, a room of about 1,100 square feet dressed in New Mexican folk art, with florals by co-owner Renee Aragon-Rivera. Proprietor Johnny Rivera, the San Diego restaurateur behind Hash House a Go Go, pairs New Mexican touches like Hatch chile crema chips and lamb albondigas with Spanish plates such as boquerones, croquetas de jamón serrano and a jamón ibérico board. The wine list leans Old and New World, and bottles are sold retail to take home. Small room, so book ahead.
