Buvette
Chef Jody Williams' gastrothèque on Grove Street pours French wine and turns out croque madames and coq au vin from sunlight to candlelight.
Founded in 2011 by chef Jody Williams, Buvette occupies a tin-ceilinged storefront on a tree-lined West Village block, running continuously from espresso and croissants at breakfast to steak tartare and champagne in the afternoon to coq au vin and digestifs at night. There's no reservation line here — just a marble bar, a hidden back garden, and a compact French menu built for grazing, whether you're squeezing in solo or sharing plates elbow-to-elbow with strangers.
Best for: All-day French bistro fare, weekend brunch, and solo café moments in the West Village
