Mesa Agrícola
A farm-to-counter taqueria in Escondido from chef Juan González and farmer Megan Strom, and one of The New York Times' 50 favorite U.S. restaurants of 2026.
Mesa Agrícola started as a residency at Vino Carta in Solana Beach before opening its own small counter in Escondido in August 2025. Baja-born chef Juan González slow-cooks guisados like cochinita pibil, chicken tinga, pork in salsa verde and carne en su jugo, served as tacos or burritos on house-made corn or flour tortillas. Much of the produce comes from the pair's own farm in Valley Center, where Megan Strom grows heirloom beans. In September 2026 The New York Times named it one of its 50 favorite restaurants in the country; expect a line and order online if you can.
